Everything here is reference information drawn from the research literature, not medical advice, and Lamduan is neither a doctor nor a pharmacist. Supplements are not medicines and do not replace anything a doctor has prescribed. If you take regular medication, are pregnant or breastfeeding, have liver or kidney disease, or have surgery coming up, speak to a pharmacist or doctor before starting anything on this page.

The mineral that governs blood pressure and heart function. It should come mainly from fruit and vegetables.
🎯What it helps withStrong evidence
Lowering blood pressure, especially in people eating a lot of sodium — but that comes from food, not from a 99 mg tablet, which is far too small to matter.
⚗️Effect on hormonesNo human data
No direct hormonal effect.
Weight and fat lossNo human data
Nothing to do with fat loss.
🌙SleepNo human data
Nothing to do with sleep.
❤️Other health effectsStrong evidence
Blood pressure, heart rhythm and muscle function.
📏Dose and ceiling
Commonly used: 99 mg per day
No nutritional limit, but supplements are legally capped at 99 mg per serving because higher oral doses ulcerate the small bowel. Potassium salt substitutes are the real route to excess.
Caution
With normal kidneys the body clears the excess. But in kidney disease, or on ACE inhibitors, ARBs or potassium-sparing diuretics, it accumulates until the heart arrhythmias and arrests. That group must never supplement it on their own.
Interacts with medicines
Dangerous alongside ACE inhibitors, ARBs, or potassium-sparing diuretics such as spironolactone and amiloride.
